Why we’re doing this
Knose believes no animal should face life alone or without care. But right now, shelters like Sydney Dogs & Cats Home are under incredible pressure. The rising cost of living and the post-COVID increase in abandoned pets mean these vital facilities are struggling to give every animal the attention and care they need.
According to the Animal Justice Party, an estimated 264 dogs and cats are euthanised every day in Australia. Behind that number are animals who simply ran out of time, space or resources.
With Paw it Forward, we help raise funds to provide essential care, give animals a second chance, and help every lost or abandoned pet feel safe, and loved.
What is Paw It Forward?
Paw it Forward is a fundraising campaign where people run birthdays, challenges, and events to support abandoned pets in need. If you’re a pet parent (or pet lover), this is a concrete way to help animals who haven’t found their people yet.
Your donations fund food, shelter, and medical care for pets at Sydney Dogs & Cats Home, Sydney’s only charity pound and community facility. They open their doors to around 3,000 pets each year and don’t place time limits on animals awaiting adoption. Every dollar you raise helps give these animals a second chance.
Thanks to your support, we’ve already raised $2,615, surpassing our original goal! With a little more help, we can reach even more animals in need.
What your donation can do
Here in Australia, a simple coffee costs around $5. For about the same amount, you can help change a life. Every donation provides care, love, and a fresh start for lost and abandoned pets. Funds raised can also help rehome animals and prevent the unnecessary euthanasia of healthy domestic pets.

Meet Sydney Dogs & Cats Home
Sydney Dogs & Cats Home has been caring for lost, abandoned and neglected dogs and cats since 1946. They’re one of Sydney’s longest-running animal charities.
They provide shelter, food, veterinary treatment, behavioural support and affection to thousands of animals each year. Some pets get reunited with their owners, others heal and find loving forever homes. They never place a time limit on adoptable animals in their care and work to rehome every healthy and treatable pet.
Sydney Dogs & Cats Home also runs community programs that connect people and animals to promote wellbeing. Currently, they’re building a purpose-built new shelter to expand their capacity and services.
While their new home is on the horizon, they still have to cover all the costs of running their two busy temporary shelters. Every animal needs food, medical care, and a safe place to sleep.
