These information snippets help pet owners understand how different insurers compare and where Knose stands out.

Many insurers cover injuries and illnesses but may exclude dental, behavioural, or alternative treatments. Knose offers extensive coverage with optional add-ons for eligible policies like dental illness, behavioural conditions, and specialised therapies—so you can tailor your policy to your pet’s unique needs.

Some insurers lock you into a fixed reimbursement percentage or lower annual caps. With Knose, you choose your benefit percentage (70%, 80%, or 90%) and annual limit (up to $25,000), ensuring flexibility based on your budget and risk comfort level.

All pet insurance policies come with exclusions, but Knose keeps it simple and transparent. Knose has a 1-day exclusion period for injuries, 14 days for illnesses, and 6 months for specified conditions, behavioural issues, and dental illnesses (14 days for pets under 1 year). Any condition that arises during these periods is considered pre-existing and won’t be covered. You can expand coverage with optional benefits, such as dental illness, behavioural conditions, and specialised therapies.

Knose allows you to choose your excess level ($0, $100, or $200 annually), giving you control over how much you pay out-of-pocket (co-payments) before insurance kicks in. Unlike some insurers that charge per claim excesses, Knose applies excess annually—meaning you won’t be hit with repeated costs for ongoing conditions.

Some insurers impose treatment-specific caps, such as limits on vet consultations. Knose has no sub-limits on standard vet treatments, meaning your total annual benefit limit applies across all conditions and treatments (provided that they are not assessed as a pre-existing symptom and condition).

Many insurers impose sub-limits—caps on claim amounts—for treatments of specific conditions, including:

  • Cruciate Ligament Conditions: Injuries to the ligaments in the knee.
  • Tick Paralysis: A potentially fatal condition caused by tick bites.
  • Dental Illness: Issues related to oral health.
  • Hip Dysplasia: A genetic condition affecting the hip joints.

In contrast, Knose does not apply sub-limits to these conditions, allowing you to utilise your full annual benefit limit for any covered treatment.

Some insurers require paperwork-heavy claims that can take weeks to process. Knose provides a simple digital claims process, and most claims are processed within a few days. No need for excessive back-and-forth—just submit and let us handle the rest.

Insurance premiums increase as pets age, but the rate and frequency vary by insurer. Knose maintains a fair and predictable approach to premium adjustments, ensuring pet owners aren’t caught off guard by unexpected hikes.

Knose allows you to customise your policy by selecting a benefit percentage (70%, 80%, or 90%), an annual limit (up to $25,000), and optional benefits like dental illness, behavioural conditions, and specialised therapies. This flexibility helps tailor coverage to your budget and your pet’s specific needs.

Limitations to Policy Changes

  • You cannot increase your annual limit after purchasing your policy; you can only decrease it.
  • The benefit percentage can only be increased at renewal, but you can decrease it at any time.
  • Optional benefits can only be added when your pet is under 3 years old and cannot be removed later.
  • Adjustments to the annual excess (if selected) can only be made at renewal.
  • If you switch from another insurer, Knose may waive waiting periods for injury and illness, provided the coverage is equal or lesser, and your previous policy was active for at least 12 months. You’ll need to complete a waiver application form and submit your previous Certificate of Insurance to apply.
