Knose’s Pet Corner at Leichhardt’s Italian Festa

Last updated on

Leichhardt’s Italian Festa came back bigger and better on October 26, and what a celebration it was.

Since its first edition in 1986, the beloved festival has grown into one of Sydney’s most celebrated cultural street events. Organised originally by the Capuchin Priests at St Fiacre’s Church, it sought to bring the lively street festivals of Italy in the heart of Sydney’s “Little Italy”.

Today, the festival attracts more than 180,000 visitors each year who come together to enjoy rich Italian heritage, authentic food, live entertainment and a strong sense of community spirit.

A Festa full of fun

The place was packed with energy from start to finish. Street Paws Festival put together a pet-friendly section that drew crowds from 10am right through to 5pm, despite the drizzle. When you’ve got live Italian music, marching bands weaving through the streets, and delicious cannoli, a bit of rain isn’t going to stop anyone.

The festival came alive with singing, laughter, and the smell of fresh pizza wafting through the air. Everyone grabbed slices, sipped lemonade, and watched motorbikes roll past while their dogs trotted happily alongside them. It’s perfect for socialising dogs in a warm and friendly setting. There’s just something about Italian food and good weather that just works.

The Knose jeep

Our Knose stall saw plenty of action throughout the day. Javier, our dog ambassador, absolutely owned the pink jeep. Festival-goers queued up to meet him, snap photos, and let their own pups climb aboard for their moment of fame. Safe to say, the jeep became the unofficial photo booth of the afternoon.

Honestly, seeing all the happy pups had us ready to adopt another on the spot!

Prizes, pawrents, and plenty of smiles

The Spin to Win wheel kept things lively too. People loved having a go, and our Pet First Aid Kit flew off the stall. Practical prizes beat novelty keyrings every time in our book! Several pet parents asked about Knose Pet Insurance, and we were more than happy to oblige.

By 5pm, we’d met dozens of locals and their dogs, handed out treats, and soaked up the festive atmosphere. It’s gatherings like this that remind us how food, fun, and a little mischief make the best kind of community.

Grazie to everyone who stopped by to say hi. We loved meeting you and your pups!
